What is IoT?
Today’s world has communication between machines which is connected to the Internet and can communicate the information. The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the network communication of these physical objects over the internet.
This communication extends from the traditional desktop, laptop and servers to a diversified range of devices with use technology to communicate over the internet.
Let’s Talk about Real world Examples
Belkin’s WeMo home automation system helps you to monitor and control WeMo-branded smart wall switches and plugs, LED light bulbs, motion sensors and lighting devices. The user can control just from their browser or smartphone app. This is managed through Belkin’s free cloud service.
Each device has its own channel, which can be to linked to online services such as Email to trigger specific actions.

Grid Connect, is a well known player in the industrial sensor market, who now offers the home security system called ConnectSense. It is a branded motion, light, temperature, humidity, water, door and window sensors to monitor the security status of your the place. It requires No hub. The sensors communicate using Wi-Fi, which may be easier to connect but consumes more power than the other home automation systems. ConnectSense can deliver alerts by voice call, text, email or tweet. Both the mobile app and the cloud service on which it relies are free.

This sensor comes into two parts the “Mother” (the hub) and the “Cookies” (wireless sensors). The cookies can be attached to objects or people and it is programmed to track and monitor the movements, temperature and location.
The small, battery-powered sensors can be attached to anything from your front door, to monitor for intrusions, to your home cooker and also to monitor your children are brushing regularly. Activity history can be tracked online, and can be configured to send alerts. Mother doesn’t work with other smart devices, but the reprogrammable, general purpose cookies can be used to add smarts to any device in the home.
